Dr. William j. Moorhead
Dr. Moorhead has been serving his patients in Flemingsburg for over 20 years. During that time he has consistently offered them excellent care through his commitment to continuing education and state of the art technology. A focal point of Dr. Moorhead’s professional career has been to provide patients with the most modern dental advancements. He is a highly trained clinician who provides total dental care for those patients with gum disease, high fear, cosmetic needs and missing or broken teeth. Dr. Moorhead is a general dentist who focuses his practice on the treatment of the entire mouth, for both young and old. “It is hard for one person to keep up on all the latest improvements in dentistry. That’s why, as part of my professional obligation to you, I make a special effort to keep up on the latest developments in dentistry through my memberships in professional organizations. I’m able to meet with other professionals and share advancements in more effective ways to a healthy smile.”
Dr. Moorhead earned his dental degree from the University of Louisville, where he was a member of the Phi Dental Prosthetic Honor Fraternity, and graduated in the top fifteen percent of his class. After serving for eight years as a member of the Lexington area Blue Grass Dental Society that serves twenty-eight counties, he was elected President of the organization in 1997. He served as President of the Kentucky Dental Association (KDA) in 2013 and now serves as Chairman of KDA’s Council on Annual Sessions. The KDA honored Dr. Moorhead in 2011 with the Presidential Citation Award, and with their Outstanding Service Award in 2011 for writing new dental sedation regulations for the state of Kentucky. Dr. Moorhead has been honored with fellowships by the International College of Dentists in 2013, the Pierre Fauchard Academy in 2002, the Dental Organization of Conscious Sedation in 2006 and the American College of Dentists in 2016. Dr. Moorhead has certification in IV Sedation and has taught IV sedation at the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry.
Dr. Moorhead remains committed to giving his patients the best that dentistry has to offer, and has attended hundreds of hours of continuing education courses to maintain that commitment, including extensive studies in sedation dentistry, orthodontics (“braces”), periodontics, endodontics (“root canals”), and implantology.
“I enjoy living in Fleming County. It’s great to be involved in such a warm, caring community.” Dr. Moorhead has served as Organist and Choir Director of First United Methodist Church and Flemingsburg Christian Church, and serves as Concert Accompanist for the Golden Chord Singers. He is well known in the area for his Annual Free Treatment Day, a tradition he has sponsored near Christmas for over 20 years. Dr. Moorhead devotes the entire day to providing services to families who have had to put off needed dental work because they are unable to afford it.
